A.Setiap Orang Itu Berbeda – Beda

          Tubuh dapat memberikan reaksi berbeda pada satu hal yang sama. Contohnya ,kita bisa makan ayam goreng,sedangkan teman kita yang baru makan segigit saja langsung mulai gejalanya.Contoh lain seperti teman kita dapat bersin – bersin ketika berdekatan dengan kucing.

          Kemungkinan teman kita memiliki kecenderungan alergi terhadap ayam goreng dan kucing.Alergi itu terjadi ketika tubuh memberikan respon yang berlebihan terhadap suatu hal yang sebenarnya tidak berbahaya bagi orang lain.

C.Apa Yang Sebenarnya Terjadi Selama Alergi

          Sistem imun pada pasien alergi menganggap alergen sebagai senyawa berbahaya sehingga harus segera di eliminasi dari tubuh dengan menghasilkan antibodi immunoglobulin E(IgE) untuk melawan alergen tersebut.Dalam waktu bersamaan,sel mast (kelompok sel darah putih)akan berkembang dan IgE akan menyebabkan sel mast tersebut mengeluarkan histamin dan senyawa – senyawa kimia lain yang menyebabkan terjadinya iritasi atau peradangan (respon alergi)

D.Apa itu Alergen

          Alergen merupakan senyawa penyebab alergi.Alergen dapat memicu sistem imun bekerja berlebihan.Tipe alergen dapat sebagai contoh alergen pada seseorang dapat berupa sengatan lebah sedangkan pada orang lain berupa makanan seperti telur.Beberapa alergen dapat menyebabkan kasus alergi lebih banyak dibanding lainnya.Sebagai contoh,banyak orang alergi terhadap kacang tetapi hanya sedikit yang alergi terhadap beras.

E.Bagaimana Alergi Tercetus

Alergen dapat berasal dari berbagai sumber.Alergen bisa berasal dari berbagai jenis dan masuk ke tubuh  dengan berbagai cara.Alergi timbul bila terdapat kontak terhadap alergen.Bisa saja melalui saluran pernapasan,berasal dari makanan,melalui suntikan,atau bisa juga timbul akibat adanya kontak dengan kulit seperti kosmetik,logam perhiasan atau jam tangan dll.

F.Apakah Seseorang Dapat Alergi Terhadap Berbagai Hal?

          Seseorang yang memiliki alergi seringkali sensitif terhadap lebih dari 1 alergen.

G.Gejala Apa Yang Dapat Muncul Saat Alergi?

          Reaksi alergi dapat menyebabkan gejala yang bersifat ringan,sedang sampai berat.

Ø Gejala ringan seperti rasa gatal atau hidung berair.

Ø Gejala sedang bersifat lebih serius atau bahkan mengancam jiwa seperti kesulitan menelan atau bernafas.Jika kamu merasa tidak nyaman segera beritahu seseorang sehingga penanganan tepat dapat dilakukan.

Ø Gejala berat,berbahaya dan mengancam jiwa seseorang dapat berupa syok anafilaktik.Syok anafilaktik dapat dimulai dengan cepat.Gejala syok anafilaktik dapat berupa :

·               Kesulitan atau rasa sakit ketika menelan atau bernafas

·               Ruam yang muncul tiba-tiba dan menimbulkan rasa gatal pada kulit

·               Denyut jantung yang cepat

·               Pembesaran pembuluh darahsehingga terjadi penurunan tekanan darah tiba-tiba

H.Mengapa Seseorang Memiliki Alergi Sedangkan Orang Lain Tidak?

          Alergi biasanya terjadi dalam suatu keluarga.Alergi dapat diturunkan dari orang tua kepada anaknya (genetik).Akan tetapi,pemeriksaan gen yang menyebabkan terjadinya alergi belum tersedia.Seseorang yang memiliki kecenderungan memiliki alergi dikatakan memiliki atopi atau bersifat atopic.Individu atopicseringkali menghasilkan antibodi IgE dalam jumlah yang banyak dibandingkan individu tanpa atopi.IgE dapat dihitung dengan melakukan pemeriksaan laboratorium.

          Untuk mengetahui seseorangmemiliki alergi maka perlu diketahui riwayat medis dan perlu dilakukan pemeriksaan alergi.
